Fully Funded Nursing & Midwifery Scholarship INES-Ruhengeri 2026

Fully Funded Nursing and Midwifery Scholarship at INES-Ruhengeri: What Applicants Need to Know

The Institut d'Enseignement Supérieur de Ruhengeri (INES-Ruhengeri), in partnership with the Ministry of Health under the government's 4X4 Strategy, has announced a funded scholarship opportunity for two undergraduate honors programs. Applicants with a science background or an existing nursing qualification now have a direct, tuition-funded pathway into the healthcare profession.

Programs Covered

The scholarship covers tuition fees only for:

  • Bachelor of Science with Honors in General Nursing (A0)
  • Bachelor of Science with Honors in Midwifery (A0)

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have completed general secondary education with one of the following principal subject combinations:

  • Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB)
  • Mathematics, Chemistry, and Biology (MCB)
  • Biology, Chemistry, and Geography (BCG)

Candidates who hold an A2 Associate Nursing qualification are also eligible to apply.

Admission Test and Selection Process

Selection is based on a structured, merit-driven process:

  1. Eligibility Review: Candidates must meet the minimum requirements set by the Higher Education Council (HEC) as well as INES-Ruhengeri's institutional requirements.
  2. Admission Test: Qualifying candidates will sit for an admission test scheduled during the week of September 14–18, 2026. Shortlisted candidates will be notified individually of their specific test date.
  3. Final Selection: Admission decisions will be based solely on the candidate's performance in the admission test.

Application Deadline

Applications must be submitted by September 10, 2026, at 11:00 PM. Given the narrow window between the application deadline and the admission test, prospective applicants are encouraged to submit their materials well ahead of the closing date.

Important Considerations

  • Registration Timelines: Selected candidates must complete all registration formalities, including payment of tuition and registration fees, within the deadlines established by the university. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of the offer.
  • Accuracy of Information: Any false information or falsified documents submitted as part of the application will result in immediate disqualification upon discovery, with the possibility of further sanctions depending on the severity of the violation.

How to Apply

Applications can be submitted through the official INES-Ruhengeri digital campus portal: Apply Here

Why This Opportunity Matters

Rwanda's healthcare sector continues to grow, and the demand for well-trained nurses and midwives remains high. By covering tuition fees, this scholarship removes one of the most significant barriers to higher education for prospective healthcare professionals. It reflects a broader national investment in strengthening the country's health workforce. For students who meet the required subject combinations, or those with an A2 Nursing qualification seeking to advance to degree level, this offers a valuable, direct route into a respected profession.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to review the eligibility requirements carefully and submit their applications ahead of the September 10, 2026 deadline.
