Chancen International Scholarship at East African Christian College (EACC) 2026

Study Now, Pay Later: Nursing, Midwifery, Education, Business Administration, Deadline: Friday, 11 September 2026 at 5:00 PM

East African Christian College (EACC), working together with Chancen International, is opening applications for a different kind of scholarship. This one isn't free money you never think about again. It's an Income Share Agreement, known as the "Study Now, Pay Later" model, and it's built for students who are qualified and motivated but don't have the cash sitting ready for tuition.

What "Study Now, Pay Later" actually means

Here's the plain version. Chancen pays your education costs while you study, so you're not scrambling for fees every semester. You focus on school. Once you finish and start earning RWF 80,000 or more a month, you begin paying back a set portion of your income, for a fixed period of time.

So it's not a loan in the traditional sense, and it's not a free ride either. It's financing that only asks something back once you're actually earning. For a lot of families, that's the difference between a child studying this September or waiting another year to save up.

Programs you can apply for

Diploma of Education in Child Development.
Bachelor of Business Administration in Monitoring and Evaluation.
Advanced Diploma in General Nursing.
Advanced Diploma in Midwifery.

Who's eligible

The requirements are different depending on the program and when you finished secondary school. Read the one that applies to you.

1. Diploma of Education in Child Development

Completed secondary school before 2024: A2 Certificate with two principal passes, in any combination.
Completed secondary school from 2024 onwards: Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education, in any combination.
Studied outside Rwanda: an equivalence certificate for your foreign qualification.

2. Bachelor of Business Administration in Monitoring and Evaluation

If you finished before 2024, you need an A2 Certificate with two principal passes in one of these combinations:

Accounting
MPG (Mathematics, Physics, Geography)
MEG (Mathematics, Economics, Geography)
MCE (Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics)
MPC (Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science)
MCB (Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology)
SME (Science and Mathematics Education)
HEG (History, Economics, Geography)
HEL (History, Economics, Literature)
Any TVET programme with Mathematics examined nationally

If you finished from 2024 onwards, an Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education in one of the options above works the same way.

3. Advanced Diploma in General Nursing and Advanced Diploma in Midwifery

First, your combination has to be one of these:

MCB (Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology)
PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)
BCG (Biology, Chemistry, Geography)
Associate Nursing Practice (ANP)

Then it depends on when you finished:

Before 2024: grade A, B, C, or D in both Biology and Chemistry, and no F in Mathematics, Physics, or Geography.
From 2024 onwards: grade A, B, C, D, E, or S in both Biology and Chemistry.

A2 Nurses need an A2 Nursing Certificate plus a valid License of Practice.

If you studied outside Rwanda, an equivalence certificate for your foreign qualification is required across all three programs above.

What you'll pay along the way

Even with ISA financing, you're not off the hook completely. Every approved student makes a commitment payment each semester:

Advanced Diploma in Nursing / Midwifery: RWF 50,000 per semester
Diploma of Education in Child Development: RWF 10,000 per semester
Bachelor of Business Administration in Monitoring and Evaluation: RWF 10,000 per semester

This isn't an extra fee on top of everything. It's your own contribution toward the cost of your studies, and it gets deducted from the total amount you repay after graduation. But it does need to be paid on time, because Chancen only releases the semester payment to EACC once a student has paid their commitment. Miss that, and your tuition payment gets stuck too.

The part people skip: it's a two stage process

Getting admitted to EACC and getting approved for Chancen's financing are two different things. Meeting the academic requirements gets you into EACC. It does not automatically get you the ISA financing.

Once admitted, here's what Chancen asks for.

From the applicant

Aged 18 to 35
Rwandan National ID, passport photo, and birth certificate
A CRB credit report from TransUnion Rwanda
A signed Residence Confirmation form
Payment of the application fee

From two guardians

Every applicant needs two guardians who can vouch for them. A guardian is a Rwandan who actually knows you and your behavior, and is willing to confirm you're serious about the program. Each guardian needs:

Aged 25 to 65
Rwandan National ID
Passport photo
Signed Residence Confirmation form
Civil Status Certificate (from one of the two guardians)

One thing to keep in mind: a legally married couple counts as one guardian, not two. So if your two guardians are husband and wife, you'll need to find a third person.

How to apply

Fill in the official EACC application form through the link below.
Wait for EACC's admission decision.
If admitted, go through Chancen's ISA application process, submitting the applicant and guardian documents above.
Attend the ISA workshop with your guardians before classes begin.

Don't wait until the last day to start gathering your guardians' documents. Getting a National ID copy, a photo, and a signed form from two separate people takes longer than most applicants expect, especially if a guardian lives outside your district.

Deadline: Friday, 11 September 2026 at 5:00 PM.

That's the cutoff for the EACC application form itself. The Chancen ISA steps come after you're admitted, so this first deadline is the one that matters right now.
