Who Can Apply

How to Apply, Step by Step

1. Submit your initial application through the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme Electronic System (HKPFSES).
2. Do this before 1 December 2026, 12:00 noon Hong Kong time. This gives you your HKPFS reference number.
3. Apply directly to your chosen universities and programmes for PhD admission, using that reference number.
4. Pick up to two programmes, across one or two universities.
5. Check each university's own deadlines and requirements closely. Some close their admissions shortly after the HKPFS deadline, so don't wait until the last minute.

A Quick Word of Advice

Don't treat the HKPFS deadline as your only deadline. Universities move on their own timelines, and some close admissions for competitive programmes weeks before the RGC's cutoff.
