About the Program

The General Surgery Residency Program is a full-time surgical training pathway leading to the MMed and FCS ECSA qualifications. It is built for doctors who want to grow into confident, capable surgeons and serve communities where surgical care is needed most.

Who Can Apply

You may be eligible if you:

• Hold an MD, MBBS, MBChB, or an equivalent medical degree
• Are a citizen of Rwanda, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, or Sierra Leone, or have refugee status in Rwanda
• Meet Rwanda's licensing requirements (foreign applicants should include proof of registration and good standing)
• Can commit to a full-time surgical residency.

Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Surgery is stronger when its workforce reflects the people it serves.
