Deadline Extended: Free Tuition for Nursing and Midwifery at Institut Catholique de Kabgayi.

If you've been sitting on an application for nursing or midwifery school because the tuition just wasn't adding up, here's some good news. The Institut Catholique de Kabgayi (ICK), working together with CHANCEN International Rwanda, has extended its call for financial support for the September 2026 intake. You now have until September 20, 2026, to get your application in.

What's actually on offer.

This isn't a loan in the traditional sense. It's an Income Share Agreement (ISA), which CHANCEN runs under what they call the "Study Now, Pay Later" model. ICK covers your tuition fees while you're studying, and once you graduate and start earning, you pay back a portion of your income. No fees upfront, no interest piling up while you're still in class.

The support covers tuition fees only, and it's open to two programs:

• Advanced Diploma in Nursing (A1, three years)
• Advanced Diploma in Midwifery (A1, three years)

Who can apply

The eligibility list is fairly specific, so read it carefully before you start pulling documents together:

• You need to be Rwandan.
• Being female counts as an advantage, though it's not stated as a strict requirement.
• If you sit the 2024-system General Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education, you need both Biology and Chemistry, with grades between A and E in each.
• If you finished Senior 6 (or its equivalent) before 2024, the bar is a bit higher: grades between A and D in both Biology and Chemistry.
• Alternatively, if you already hold a General Advanced Certificate in Associate Nursing, you'll need at least a 60% pass mark.

What to prepare before you apply.

Three documents, and it's worth getting these ready ahead of time so the online application doesn't stall halfway through:

1. A notarized copy of your Advanced General Certificate of Secondary Education, or your A-Level result slip.
2. A copy of your National ID.
3. One colored passport photo.

Applications go in online at www.uck.ac.rw, where you'll upload everything directly.

The fine print worth knowing.

A few things to keep in mind if you do get selected:

• There's a commitment fee of RWF 200,000 per year, paid in installments of RWF 50,000 every three months. So it's not entirely free, just structured to be manageable.
• Admitted students will need to meet CHANCEN's ISA requirements and attend an ISA workshop, and your guardians are expected to be there too before classes start.
• If you're granted CHANCEN's financial support, ICK will notify you directly, and you'll begin with the September intake.
