Purpose of the Internship

The Communications Intern will support FAWE Rwanda's communication activities aimed at improving organizational visibility, stakeholder engagement, and brand awareness.

The intern will gain practical experience in:

  1. Content creation and development.
  2. Digital communications.
  3. Social media management.
  4. Media engagement.
  5. Event documentation.
  6. Advocacy and awareness campaigns.
  7. Communication within the development sector.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will support FAWE Rwanda in the following areas:

1. Communications and Content Development

  • Support the implementation of FAWE Rwanda's communication strategy.
  • Assist in producing and disseminating communication and multimedia materials.
  • Develop and support content such as:
  1. Success stories.
  2. Newsletters.
  3. Website content.
  4. Press releases.
  5. Social media posts.
  6. Videos.
  7. Photographs.
  8. Graphics.
  9. Presentations.
  • Support the publicity of FAWE Rwanda activities, including partner meetings, workshops, and organizational events.
  • Ensure timely dissemination of organizational information through appropriate communication channels.

2. Digital and Social Media Communications

  • Monitor FAWE Rwanda social media platforms.
  • Support engagement with followers and stakeholders.
  • Assist in developing digital communication content.
  • Track social media performance.
  • Prepare basic social media analytics reports.
  • Ensure communication materials follow FAWE Rwanda branding guidelines.

3. Documentation and Advocacy

  • Support program staff in documenting stories and testimonials.
  • Document project achievements from beneficiaries and partners.
  • Contribute to advocacy campaigns.
  • Assist in developing awareness-raising communication materials.
  • Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly newsletters.

4. Media Management

  • Assist in maintaining and updating media contact lists and databases.
  • Support media-related communication activities.
  • Undertake other communications-related duties assigned by the supervisor.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

Academic Qualifications

Applicants should be:

  • Recent graduates; or
  • Final-year students pursuing a Bachelor's degree in:
  1. Communications.
  2. Journalism.
  3. Public Relations.
  4. Media Studies.
  5. Marketing.
  6. Mass Communication.
  7. A related field.

Experience

Previous experience is an advantage. Candidates may have experience through:

  • Previous internships.

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Basic Microsoft Office skills, including:

  2. Microsoft PowerPoint.
  3. Microsoft Excel.
  4. Microsoft Outlook.
  • Knowledge of Canva or similar graphic design tools is an added advantage.
